Olivier Award winning Kinky Boots is currently running with houseful shows at the stylish, art deco, Adelphi Theatre. Along with Nederlander Theatres, Andrew Lloyd Webber became the co-owner of the theatre in the year 1993 and premiered his production of Sunset Boulevard. The theatre also returned to its former art deco style.  The theatre hosted some of the blockbuster shows of Andrew Lloyd Webber such as Love Never Dies, Evita and Joseph and the Technicolor Dreamcoat.

The immensely popular London Westend production of Chicago marked its premiere at the Adelphi Theatre. In the year 1806, first theatre made its debut on the site as the Sans Pareil under the supervision of John Scott and his daughter Jane. During her tenure as a manager of the theatre, Jane Scott wrote almost fifty stage pieces.

Earlier, there were two more theatres on this site. In the year 1930, the current theatre opened and was redesigned in the Art Deco style by Ernest Schaufelberg. With spacious foyer and occupancy of 1500, Adelphi Theatre is one of the most stunning and popular London Westend theatres. The theatre also has some intriguing stories as famous actor William Terriss was stabbed to death in 1897. The actor was killed during the run of ‘Secret Service’. It’s been stated that his ghost haunts till date.

Adelphi Theatre features 4 licensed bars which includes Jessie Matthews bar down 20 steps from foyer, Vivienne Ellis bar has level access from stalls, Dress Circle bar up 30 steps and Upper Circle bar 63 steps. For disabled customers, drinks can be taken inside the auditorium. Theatre also has provision for light snacks.
