Get set for much loved London’s Disney musical Mary Poppins at the Prince Edward Theatre! The show made its debut in the year 2004 featuringg Laura Michelle Kelly. The show is all set to make its comeback on 23rd October 2019. The show is adapted from immensely loved Walt Disney’s 1964 movie with the same name starred Julie Andrews and Dick Van Dyke.
Mary Poppins is a thrilling saga that revolves around magical nanny Mary Poppins. In order to assist the Banks family, she arrives and collaborated with chimney-sweep Bert and pledge to help Jane and Michael as well as their parents. The show is a brilliant and exciting adventurous roller coaster ride.
Mary Poppins features a book by Downton Abbey’s Julian Fellowes whereas chartbusting music and lyrics by the Sherman brothers alongwith Stiles and Drewe. The superb musical features chartbusting numbers like“Practically Perfect”, “A Spoonful of Sugar”, “Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious” and “Chim Chim Cher-ee” and many more.
After 2015 UK tour, the role of Mary Poppins is reprised by Zizi Strallen, renowned for some popular West End shows such as Strictly Ballroom the Musical at the Piccadilly Theatre and Follies at the National Theatre. The role of Bert is portrayed by Charlie Stemp and have made recent appearance in London’s Half a Sixpence and Dick Whittington, and on Broadway in Hello, Dolly!.
Under the superb direction of Richard Eyre, Mary Poppins is a complete treat to watch out for. The show is co-directed and choreographed by Matthew Bourne along with co-choreography by Stephen Mear. The show also includes immensely talented creative team such as designer Bob Crowley, lighting designer Natasha Katz and sound designer Paul Gatehouse. Orchestration for the spectacular production is done by William David Brohn. The popular London classic musical is a superb amalgamation of laughter and entertainment.
If you are an ardent fan of Charlie Stemp then enjoy him on London stage, whereas for fans of Zizi Strallen, Mary Poppins is a great show to go for! The show is recommended for 7+, whereas under 3s will not be admitted into the theatre.
